ALMA Accreditation

Accreditation is a well established business concept that has been used to attract markets and increase consumer confidence for many years.
For instance, how many people would willingly or regularly use dentists, pharmacists, solicitors, accountants, electricians, builders or plumbers if they did not have certification from their industry bodies?
Recognising a similar need for the lawn contractor industry, ALMA and other associations in Australia began the process of developing and implementing accreditation schemes.

Turf Management for domestic lawns

The concepts presented in this short course will give you a better understanding of how lawns grow and what they need to keep them growing. Successful turf management then applies neither too much, nor too little of any of these basic operations to maintain a lawn with anacceptable appearance. Over watering or fertilising will make it lush. Never water and the lawn will be sparse and invaded by annual weeds.

Pruning Ornamental Shrubs

Proper pruning improves shrubs and trees in any number of important respects, but improper pruning can be more harmful than none at all. Skill in pruning is gained through experience, so do not shy away from the task. On the other hand, understand the basics before proceeding.

Weed Control Certificate

Should you do a weed job and it goes wrong - you poison the cat, the goldfish, or the neighbours' plants, there is a real possibility that you could be subject to litigation. You have limited Professional Indemnity Insurance cover for this kind of risk, however the underwriters warn us of possible consequences through performing work that is controlled and regulated by an Act of Parliament.
The Act requires persons who apply pesticides for hire or reward to be licensed.
We recommend that you study the TAFE Weed Control Certificate, which provides accreditation for licensing under the Controlled Substances Act.
